A customer who has to leave to find out whether something applies to them frequently does not come back, and the link was cheaper to add than the sentence but costs considerably more. Most of the Uppsala work we are asked about comes from distributors serving grant-funded buyers, frequently based around Uppsala Science Park. What those businesses have in common is that the requirement above is not optional for them, whatever else changes about the build. The accessible version and the clear version are the same version. Anything that helps somebody using a screen reader or a keyboard also helps the customer reading in a hurry on a train, which is a much larger group than either. Is accessibility included?
Yes, and not as a separate stage. Visible focus, real labels, adequate contrast and a keyboard route through the whole flow are part of the design rather than an audit afterwards. Retrofitting them costs more and produces a worse result than deciding them while the page is being drawn. That holds for Uppsala work as much as for anywhere we deliver.
How do you know a change is an improvement?
By measuring it where the volume supports measurement, and by reasoning honestly where it does not. Small stores rarely have the traffic for a reliable test, and pretending otherwise produces confident conclusions from noise. In that case the argument has to stand on its own merits. That is true of Uppsala work too.

That second conversation is consistently the most useful part of the work, because complaints describe the interface more accurately than any brief does.
