How does an unlimited development plan actually work?

An unlimited development plan works as a queue rather than as a series of projects. You buy a month of capacity, add as many requests as you like to a shared board, and a dedicated project manager sequences them with you. Work is delivered continuously and you can reorder the queue whenever priorities change.

  1. You buy a month of capacity

    Takes minutes

You take a month of ProNuts — 160 hours of design and development time for $3,200. There is no setup fee, no minimum term, and no contract to work through before you can stop.

  2. You submit as many requests as you like

    Continuous

Requests go onto a shared board that both sides can see. There is no cap on how many you add and no per-request approval step, so a small change costs you a card rather than a quote request and a wait.

  3. A dedicated project manager sequences them with you

    Daily

The same project manager for the length of your plan triages what arrives, asks the questions that would otherwise cause a rework, and agrees the queue order with you. You can reorder it whenever priorities change.

  4. Work is delivered continuously

    Throughout the month

Two to three items are typically in active progress at once while the rest wait in the queue you control. Nothing waits for a monthly release, and you can see exactly where each request sits.

What does "unlimited" actually mean here?

Unlimited describes submission, not simultaneous delivery. You can put as many requests on the board as you like, and the plan covers 160 hours a month — roughly one full-time person. Two or three items are usually in active progress while the rest wait in a queue whose order you control. Nobody else in this category explains that, and every buyer already suspects it.

  • Unlimited submission

No cap on requests, no per-request approval, no quote for a small change. Adding a card costs you nothing.

  • Defined capacity

160 hours a month. That is the honest limit, and it is the number the price is attached to.

  • You own the order

Two to three items in active progress, the rest queued. Something urgent moves to the front because you moved it.

What's included?

The plan covers four disciplines rather than one, which is the main reason it compares favourably with a single hire. Every item below is work the same team does on project engagements — the retainer changes how it is bought and sequenced, not what it is or who does it.

    • Wireframes and prototypes

What's not included?

The plan covers our time and does not cover third-party costs such as licences, hosting and subscriptions, which are always agreed with you before they are incurred. The full scope boundary is set out in our full terms, and your project manager confirms whether a request is in scope before any hours are spent on it.

The price, and what it buys

One number, published, with the hours attached to it. No setup fee, no minimum term, and no discount that expires to create urgency. Third-party licences, hosting and subscriptions are billed separately and always agreed with you first.

How does this compare to hiring, freelancers, or a traditional agency?

A retainer is not the right answer for everyone, and the table below says where it is not. An in-house hire wins for one discipline full time over years. Freelancers win for defined one-off tasks. A retainer wins when the work is continuous, spans disciplines, and must not stop because one person became unavailable.

Who is this for, and who is it not for?

ProNuts suits a store that changes continuously across more than one discipline. It does not suit a single defined project, a single discipline needed full time for years, or a team that cannot give feedback often enough to keep a queue moving. Those three cases are listed below because getting this wrong wastes your money, not ours.

It fits when

  • Your store changes every week and each change currently needs its own quote
  • The work spans design, frontend, backend and automation rather than sitting in one discipline
  • Volume varies month to month and you want to be able to pause rather than commit
  • You want one accountable project manager instead of briefing four freelancers

It does not fit when

  • You need one defined project built once — a fixed-scope quote will serve you better
  • Your need is a single discipline, full time, for years — an in-house hire is better value
  • You cannot supply feedback or approvals regularly, in which case capacity goes unused

Questions about the plan

10 questions covering how the queue works, what the price does and does not cover, and when a retainer is the wrong choice. Where an answer states a contractual term, the full version is in our terms and conditions rather than only here.

How does an unlimited web development subscription work?

You pay a fixed monthly fee for a defined block of capacity — 160 hours with ProNuts. You submit as many requests as you like to a shared board, and a dedicated project manager sequences them with you. Work is delivered continuously through the month, and you can reorder the queue at any point.

What does "unlimited" actually mean?

Unlimited refers to how many requests you can submit, not how many are delivered simultaneously. The plan covers 160 hours a month, roughly one full-time person. In practice two to three tasks are in active progress at once while the rest wait in a queue whose order you control. Submission is unlimited; capacity is defined.

What does the plan cost?

ProNuts is $3,200 per month for 160 hours, billed monthly. There is no setup fee, no minimum term and no lock-in contract. You can pause, resume or cancel at any time. The price covers our time only — third-party licences, hosting and subscription costs are billed separately and always agreed with you first.

Is a retainer cheaper than hiring in-house?

For one discipline full-time, an in-house hire is usually better value long-term. A retainer wins when the work spans design, frontend, backend and AI, because one employee cannot cover all four and four employees cost far more than $3,200. It also wins when volume varies month to month, since you can pause.

What is not included in the plan?

Paid media management and ad spend, brand identity design from scratch, high-volume content writing, third-party licence and subscription costs, hosting fees, and full ERP implementation. Anything requiring on-site presence is also outside scope. If a request falls outside, we say so before starting rather than consuming your hours on it.

How fast are tasks turned around?

Turnaround depends on task size and queue position, both of which you can see. Small changes typically complete within a day or two of reaching the front of the queue. Larger pieces are broken into stages with dates agreed up front. Because you control queue order, urgent work moves to the front.

Can I pause or cancel?

Yes, at any time, with no penalty. Pausing stops billing and holds your place, so the same project manager and team resume when you return. Cancelling ends billing at the close of the current paid month. There is no notice period and no minimum term to work through.

What happens to unused hours?

Unused hours do not roll over indefinitely, because unlimited rollover turns a capacity plan into a bank and makes scheduling impossible. If you finish a month well under, tell us before renewal and we will discuss pausing instead. Paying for capacity you are not using is not something we want to encourage.

Who manages the work?

A dedicated project manager, assigned at kickoff and unchanged for the length of your plan. They triage incoming requests, sequence the queue with you, brief the team, and are your single point of contact. You are not routed through a general support queue and you do not brief individual developers.

Is this better than using freelancers?

Freelancers are better for defined one-off tasks in a single discipline, and usually cheaper for them. A retainer is better when work is continuous, spans disciplines, or must not stop because one person became unavailable. If your need is a single defined project, hire a freelancer — you do not need a monthly plan.
