Italy

Shopify development for Italian businesses

Italian catalogues tend to be wide rather than deep: the same piece in four materials, six sizes and three finishes. That is seventy-two things to photograph, price and keep in stock, and a variant structure decided casually becomes unmanageable. We build Shopify stores for Italian businesses remotely.

What changes about Shopify Development in Italy?

Variants multiply, and the decision that matters is which attributes are variants at all. Every combination is a stock figure somebody maintains, a price that may differ, and potentially an image. Treating material as a variant of one product gives you one page with a rich chooser; treating it as separate products gives you pages that can each rank and be described properly. Neither is wrong and the choice is close to irreversible once a catalogue and its URLs exist. In the Italian stores we have worked on, the useful test is whether a customer arrives searching for the attribute. If somebody searches for the material by name, it deserves its own page. If they only choose it once they have found the piece, it is a variant. The second decision is what happens when one combination sells out: hiding it makes the chooser lie, and showing it without saying so wastes the customer's time. Marking it visibly unavailable is the honest option and it is a setting most stores never revisit.

What a Shopify Development project includes

Three things, and they do not change by country. What changes is the section above, which is the part worth reading before anybody agrees a scope for Italy.

  1. Custom Online Store 2.0 theme or headless storefront
  2. App, payment and fulfilment integration
  3. Migration with a full URL redirect map

Cities we cover in Italy

14 cities, each with its own page describing what commerce looks like there — what sells, who buys it and what makes selling there different — rather than repeating this one. All four services are delivered in every one of them, and we hold no office in any.

Southern Italy

Northern Italy

Italian Islands

Central Italy

The rest of what we build in Italy

Replatforming rarely arrives on its own. The interface decides whether the new store converts, and the automation decides how much manual work it leaves behind, so the other services in this market are usually the next question rather than a later one.

Shopify Development questions from Italy

Three questions specific to Shopify Development in Italy. The general ones — how we work, what it costs, who owns the code — are answered on the service page, and the ones about selling into this market generally are on the Europe page above.

Do you have an office in Italy?

No. Our studio is in Rajkot, India, and Italian clients work with us remotely. There is no Italian address behind this page. We put it in the opening paragraph rather than the footer, because that is where a reader forms the assumption and correcting it there costs nothing.

Separate products or variants?

Ask whether customers search for the attribute by name. If they arrive looking for a specific material or finish, it earns its own page and its own description. If they only choose it after finding the piece, it belongs in the chooser. Getting this wrong is expensive to reverse.

What should a sold-out combination do?

Show as unavailable rather than disappear. Hiding it makes the chooser dishonest, because a customer sees options that do not represent what you stock. Leaving it selectable without saying anything wastes their time twice, once choosing and once at the basket.
