Romania

UI/UX design for Romanian ecommerce

Romanian is written with diacritics and frequently typed without them. A search that treats the two as different words returns nothing for a customer who typed the way most people type, and nothing tells you it happened. We design store interfaces for Romanian businesses remotely.

What changes about UI/UX Design in Romania?

This is the same failure as any other silent search fault and it is more common here because the input method makes omitting the marks the path of least resistance. A customer types a product name without its diacritics, the index does not match, and the result is an empty page that reads as you not stocking the item. Handling it means normalising both the index and the query so the marks are ignored for matching while the correct spelling is what gets displayed — the customer should see the word written properly even if they did not type it that way. The same normalisation belongs anywhere text is compared rather than read: filters, autocomplete, and any lookup by name. Beyond search there is a content decision worth making explicitly, which is that product data should be stored with the diacritics correct, because stripping them at source to avoid the problem makes every page look careless in order to fix something that belongs in the matching layer.

What a UI/UX Design project includes

Three things, and they do not change by country. What changes is the section above, which is the part worth reading before anybody agrees a scope for Romania.

  1. UX audit against a published checklist
  2. Redesign of the highest-revenue templates
  3. Design system and tokens, where they earn their cost

Cities we cover in Romania

8 cities, each with its own page describing what commerce looks like there — what sells, who buys it and what makes selling there different — rather than repeating this one. All four services are delivered in every one of them, and we hold no office in any.

Transylvania

Bucharest and the South

Dobruja

Moldavia

Banat and Crișana

The rest of what we build in Romania

Replatforming rarely arrives on its own. The interface decides whether the new store converts, and the automation decides how much manual work it leaves behind, so the other services in this market are usually the next question rather than a later one.

UI/UX Design questions from Romania

Three questions specific to UI/UX Design in Romania. The general ones — how we work, what it costs, who owns the code — are answered on the service page, and the ones about selling into this market generally are on the Europe page above.

Do you have an office in Romania?

No. We are in Rajkot, India, and Romanian clients are served remotely. There is no Romanian address behind this page and no office you could visit. It is stated at the top because that is precisely where a page naming a country usually implies something it should not.

Should we store product names without the marks?

No. Store them correctly and ignore the marks only when matching. Stripping them at source makes every page on the site look careless in order to solve a problem that belongs in the search layer instead, where handling it costs nothing and no customer ever sees the compromise being made.

How would we know this is happening?

From the log of searches that returned no results, which most stores already collect and nobody ever reads. An hour spent on that list usually shows the same product names appearing again and again in whichever form the index is failing to match, which makes the fix obvious rather than theoretical.
