WooCommerce development questions from the UK

Do you have a UK office?
No. The studio is in Rajkot, India, and UK clients work with us remotely. We hold no British address and this page does not imply one. If a supplier who can attend your premises matters to you, that is a fair requirement and we are honest that we do not meet it.
What does an audit actually cover?
Hosting and who can log into it, plugin licences and their renewal state, the PHP and WordPress versions, whether a backup has ever been restored, and what custom code exists without documentation. It is a day of work and it usually changes what the client thought they were buying next.
Should we move to Shopify instead?
Sometimes, and we will say so if it is true for you. WooCommerce suits businesses that need control over the data and the checkout; Shopify suits businesses that would rather not own the maintenance. Recommending the one we are being asked about regardless of fit would be a poor way to start.
Who holds the plugin licences?
They should be in your name, not ours and not a previous agency's. Licences held by a supplier become a problem the moment the relationship ends, usually at the worst time. Moving them across is administrative rather than technical and it is worth doing before anything else.
How often do updates need running?
More often than most inherited stores have had them, and on a staging copy first. An update applied straight to a live store is a gamble that pays off most of the time, which is exactly what makes people keep doing it until the day it does not.
