Ecommerce website development for Swedish businesses
Ecommerce development for Swedish businesses starts from an unusual position: this is where pay-later checkout was invented, and Swedish shoppers expect it as a default rather than an option. Swish handles the instant end, and cash has effectively left the market. We build remotely from Rajkot and hold no Swedish office.
How do you work with Swedish clients?
We hold no Swedish office.
Work is delivered from our studio in Rajkot on a shared board you can open at any time, with every decision written down the day it is made and scope changes priced in writing before they are built. What is specific to Sweden is that the payment layer carries more weight than almost anything else in the build. Buying now and paying later is normal here rather than novel, which means a meaningful share of your orders are unpaid when they ship and the reconciliation runs through a provider rather than a card processor. Returns interact with that directly: a returned item on an unpaid invoice is a cancellation rather than a refund, and stores that model it as a refund end up with credit notes that do not match anything. Swish covers the immediate end for smaller baskets and settles in seconds. Getting those mechanics right is where the first phase goes, because a Swedish shopper who finds the payment options unfamiliar simply leaves. Invoicing is in Swedish krona or euro. Contracts are governed by the laws of India, stated plainly in our terms and worth raising with your adviser before signing.
What we build
Four services, delivered the same way wherever you are: Shopify stores, WooCommerce stores, the interface design that decides whether either converts, and the automation that removes manual work from running them.
- Shopify in Europe
Shopify Development
Shopify development is the work of building a store on Shopify that does what your business needs rather than what a theme allows.
- WooCommerce in Europe
WooCommerce Development
WooCommerce development is the work of building a store on WordPress and WooCommerce, where you host the software and own the database outright.
- UI/UX in Europe
UI/UX Design
Ecommerce UI/UX design is the work of deciding how a store looks and how customers move through it, from landing page to completed order.
- AI in Europe
AI Automation
AI automation for ecommerce means using language models and workflow tools to remove repetitive work from running a store.
Which platforms dominate in Sweden?
Our observation, not sourced data
What we see in the Swedish market, stated as our observation rather than as sourced data: Shopify leads new direct-to-consumer launches and WooCommerce holds a strong installed base, with a domestic platform sector serving mid-market merchants. The genuinely Swedish pattern is that the payment provider is chosen before the platform in a way we see nowhere else, and it is frequently the constraint the platform decision has to fit around rather than the other way round.
What does a Swedish store actually have to handle?
Every layer below is something a store selling in Sweden has to get right, and most of them are decided before a line of code is written. Thresholds and rates are deliberately not quoted here — they change, and the primary sources are linked further down.
| Layer | What Swedish stores usually need |
|---|---|
| Currency | Swedish krona; euro pricing only where cross-border sales justify it |
| Payment methods | Pay-later and card, with Swish for instant domestic transfers |
| Deferred payment | Invoice and instalment options are an expectation rather than an upsell |
| Shipping carriers | PostNord, DHL, Budbee, Instabox; pickup points are widely used |
| Returns | A return against an unpaid invoice is a cancellation, not a refund |
| Tax handling | Swedish VAT, with one-stop-shop reporting for EU distance sales |
| Data protection | GDPR, supervised by IMY |
| Consumer rights | A fourteen-day withdrawal right on most distance sales |
Cities we cover in Sweden
Each city page describes what commerce actually looks like there rather than repeating this one. If your city is not listed, the service is identical — we simply have not written a page worth publishing about it yet.

Southern Sweden
Western Sweden
A Swedish store meets the two standard EU regimes with one commercial consequence that touches both. Data protection runs through GDPR, supervised by the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, governing collection, retention and erasure. Consumer law gives a fourteen-day withdrawal right on most distance sales, which must be stated before purchase. The consequence is deferred payment: where the customer has the goods before paying, exercising a withdrawal cancels an outstanding invoice rather than triggering a refund, and the store, the payment provider and your accounts all need to agree on which happened. Stores that treat every return as a refund produce records that do not reconcile and customers who are chased for money they do not owe. We build so the payment state is explicit at every step. Which obligations apply to your business is a question for your own adviser, and nothing here is legal advice.
Nothing on this page is legal or tax advice.
Where Swedish businesses sell next
These are the markets clients in Sweden most often ask about once the first store is trading. Each has its own payment habits, carriers and regulator, and a store built for one does not automatically work in the next. Every other market we cover is listed underneath.

Swedish questions we are asked
5 questions specific to working with us from Sweden, including the one most agencies avoid: whether anybody at this studio is actually in the country.
Do you have a Swedish office?
No. We work from Rajkot, India, and say so rather than implying a Stockholm address. You get a named contact who stays with the account, a shared board you can open at any time, and answers within one business day. Where a project genuinely needs somebody present, we are the wrong supplier.
Is pay-later really necessary in Sweden?
It is closer to expected than optional. Swedish shoppers are used to receiving goods before paying, and a checkout offering only immediate card payment reads as restrictive rather than simple. The provider carries the credit risk in most arrangements, which is how stores offer it without funding it themselves.
What does Swish add that cards do not?
Speed and familiarity for domestic buyers, particularly on smaller baskets, with settlement in seconds and no card details entered. It does not replace deferred payment for larger orders. Most Swedish stores we see end up offering both because they serve different moments in the same catalogue.
How should returns work against an unpaid invoice?
As a cancellation of the amount owed rather than a refund of money received, with the provider updated so the customer is not chased. It sounds like a detail and it is the single most common source of support contacts on Swedish stores we inherit, because the two systems disagree about what happened.
Should we price in krona or euro?
Krona for Swedish customers, who expect it. Euro only if you sell into the euro area in genuine volume, and then as separate round prices rather than a live conversion. A converted price that changes with the exchange rate makes every comparison a customer does slightly wrong.
